The edition of 9 October 2026
Nothing notable published today.
We would rather send you this than manufacture significance.
Two of our datasets were due a check this morning, and both came back byte-for-byte identical to the copies we already hold: the Ministry of Justice's 102 monthly prison population bulletins, unchanged since yesterday, and the claimant count from NOMIS, unchanged since 24 September. The September prison bulletin, usually out on the second Friday of the month, was not there when we looked. Nothing was revised.
NHS England's August hospital waiting-list figures, published yesterday, are still not in this edition: the page we fetch them from has changed, and a dataset we could not fetch and check is left out of the day entirely rather than read from anywhere else.
Nothing on our shelf of developing stories is ready to run. The next fresh data we expect is the September prison bulletins, the September claimant count and the August house prices in the coming fortnight, followed by the August airport figures.
