The edition of 1 October 2026
Nothing notable published today.
We would rather send you this than manufacture significance.
Two of our datasets were due a check this morning. The Met Office station files opened their October window, but have not yet gained September: all 37 came back byte-for-byte identical to the copies we archived on 8 September, and the August readings, including the Oxford and Heathrow records reported on 3 September, still stand as first published and still provisional. The Ministry of Justice prison bulletins were re-read because the government statistics calendar listed a Ministry of Justice release today; that release is not one we follow, and the bulletins came back identical to the copies we archived on 20 September. Nothing was revised.
Everything else is between releases. The port and airport tables stand as read yesterday, the July house prices and the August claimant count stand as published, and NHS England's waiting times fetcher still awaits repair against the publisher's changed pages before its October release. MHCLG's newest temporary accommodation figures, in a changed file format since 20 August, still await a human reading before our software will parse them.
The Met Office window runs to 8 October, so the September station readings could arrive any morning this week. The prison bulletins, the August house prices and the August airport figures follow in the two weeks after.
