Public Figures

Britain’s official statistics

The edition of 23 September 2026

Nothing notable published today.

We would rather send you this than manufacture significance.

One new set of figures did arrive this morning: the Civil Aviation Authority's monthly airport passenger tables for July 2026, which we archived and read in full. They show ordinary summer movement — small rises at most airports, small falls at a few — and nothing that meets our bar for a finding. When a longer-running pattern in those tables is ready to be said properly, it will be said with the full series behind it.

Everything else we fetched today — the port freight tables, house prices and the claimant count — came back byte-for-byte identical to the copies we already hold, and nothing was revised: the July house price figures we reported on 16 September stand exactly as published.

The prison bulletins and NHS England's waiting times were not checked today: both their monthly collection windows closed on 20 September. The August prison bulletin was collected on 8 September and stands as published. NHS England's waiting times went unchecked through their window because the publisher changed its statistics pages and our collection software, finding none of the links it expected, stopped rather than guess; the July figures we reported on 10 September are unaffected, and the page change will be reviewed by a person before the October release.

MHCLG's newest temporary accommodation figures, in a changed file format since 20 August, still await a human reading before our software will parse them.
