The edition of 12 September 2026
Nothing notable published today.
We would rather send you this than manufacture significance.
Five of the datasets we cover were fetched this morning. Four — the prison bulletins, house prices, the claimant count and NHS waiting times — came back byte-for-byte identical to the copies we already hold. The fifth was new: the Department for Transport published its April-to-June port freight figures this morning, a couple of weeks ahead of the slot its quarterly releases usually take.
The new quarter is provisional, and it hands one port its busiest quarter in the record we hold. We are not reporting that record today, for the same reason we did not report two others like it in August: the publisher says these figures will be revised, and reporting a record now and the revision later would be us generating our own correction. All three records sit on our shelf, waiting for the figures to be finalised.
The same file also quietly restated two figures the publisher had already published, for the quarter that ran from January to March. Both changes are small and neither touches a figure we have cited. They are recorded in our public corrections log — the first time this publisher has moved a figure since our archive began. The airport tables were also refreshed this morning; their June figures are unchanged from the edition of 18 August that reported them.
