The edition of 4 September 2026
Nothing notable published today.
We would rather send you this than manufacture significance.
The Met Office station files were fetched again this morning, inside the early-September window, and came back byte-for-byte identical to yesterday's: August 2026 stands exactly as published in yesterday's edition, still provisional, and the July figures remain unrevised. Nothing else we cover published today — the single item on the statistics calendar, weekly death registrations, is not a series we follow.
Two standing notes. MHCLG's newest temporary accommodation figures, in a changed file format since 20 August, still await a human reading before our software will parse them. And next week is the busy one: the prison bulletins' window opens on the 8th, NHS waiting times are due around the 10th, and the July house price release from the 11th.
