Public Figures

Britain’s official statistics

The edition of 27 August 2026

Nothing notable published today.

We would rather send you this than manufacture significance.

Thursday, and the busiest release calendar in a week brought nothing new to our series. A Department for Transport announcement — July's electric vehicle charging grant statistics, which we do not cover — prompted a full re-fetch of the port freight and airport tables as a precaution. Every one of the 92 files came back byte-identical to the copies archived on 20 August: the port figures still end at the provisional first quarter of 2026, and the airport figures still end at June. Nothing was restated, so there was nothing to report.

Two standing gaps, for the record. MHCLG's new temporary accommodation figures, published last Wednesday in a changed file format, still await a human reading before our software will parse them; until then the homelessness series ends at the quarter we already hold. And the August prison bulletin never appeared in the Ministry of Justice's usual window, so we watch the announcements calendar for it. The September releases begin next week, starting with the Met Office station data.
