We said NHS England's July waiting-times figures were still awaited; they had published three days earlier
The edition of 13 September 2026 said, in its editor's note, that "NHS England's July waiting times are past their usual second Thursday and due by the 20th."
That was wrong. NHS England published the July 2026 referral-to-treatment tables on 10 September 2026 — the second Thursday, as usual — and our own edition of 10 September led with a figure from them: Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust's 165,372 incomplete pathways at the end of July. The release the note should have said we were waiting for is the August 2026 month, due around the second Thursday of October.
No published figure is affected. The error was confined to the note's description of which releases were upcoming; it originated in a shelf entry written on 12 September and was repeated in the 13 September editorial log and edition note. It was caught on 14 September while preparing the day's edition.
The 13 September edition's archived page and email are the record of what we published and stay as sent; this entry is the correction.
